The Gigodons Project, created in 2002, is directed by saxophonist, storyteller and multi-instrumentalist Michel Côté, well known in Quebec and internationally as a prominent innovator. Of note are his album, Lapon Balèze (2004) and collaborations with Bill Dixon and Leo Konitz, themselves legends of jazz and improvisational music.
Michel presents his vision of the encounter between Quebecois folklore and modern jazz. His musicians explore the jig in swing style through a repertoire of frenzied compositions that bring out the pioneering nature of these lively jazzmen.
Vincent Gagnon joined Gigodons in 2008. He takes a mischievous pleasure with this amusing repertoire, which allows him to poke at the melodica and the traditional accordion, in addition to his piano.
