Festival de jazz de Québec 2011

Vincent Gagnon will be much active during this year’s edition of the Festival de jazz de Québec!
He will take part in many concerts, playing for singers Virginie Hamel, Annie Poulain, Lily Thibodeau and Danya Ortmann, sax players André Larue and Michel Côté, and American jazz legends Dave Liebman and Frank Lacy!

In Concert with Géraldine Laurent!

The oustanding French alto sax player Géraldine Laurent, visits Quebec and Montreal for two concerts only!
At Quebec City’s Largo, she will join Vincent Gagnon on piano, Guillaume Bouchard on upright bass and Michel Lambert on drums.

Vincent Gagnon Finalist for OPUS Award!

Vincent Gagnon is happy to learn that he is a finalist for the OPUS Award in the category Best jazz album – 2009-2010. Indeed, his CD, Bleu cendre, launched last year, continues to garner a lot of attention. The awards will be presented at a gala on January 30th, 2011 in Montreal.

Annie Poulain’s new album, Saoulée à l’autre, is nominated as a finalist for a Felix prize (Best jazz album – interpretation)!
The gala will be shown at MusiquePlus and MusiMax on november 1st, 2010.

For the last time in 2010 in Quebec City, Vincent Gagnon’s Bleu cendre quintet will perform at concert at the Palais Montcalm, October 22nd! It is a great occasion to hear the quintet in an intimate, acoustic setting… the optimal conditions to hear and feel this music!

September 27th – Jazz réunion – a reunion of twelve great Quebec City jazzmen, directed by outstanding saxophonist Michel Côté!
October 2nd – À propos de Charlie… – Stephanie Biddle and Charles Biddle Jr. pay tribute to their father, a great Montreal jazzman who left us in 2003.
October 3rd – two concerts!
La voix Ferré Jazz – Nathalie Lessard, along with special guest Jessica Vigneault, tell and sing the music and poetry of Léo Ferré.
Cocktail Jazz à saveur d’OSQ – Seven great jazz pianists from Quebec and Montreal meet four musicians from the Orchestre symphonique de Québec! The concert also features an outstanding bass duet (Guillaume Bouchard and Michel Donato) and signer Stephanie Biddle!
